2021 Fall R4s-Week 2

Schedule

Please ensure that your team arrives to the gym ahead of the scheduled play time to check-in and warm-up. Please pay close attention to your gym time and location as these will change on a weekly basis.

COVID-19: At this time, there are no modifications to the gameplay surrounding COVID-19. Please avoid giving high-fives to other teams ("air-fives" are strongly encouraged!) and avoid contact when possible. Masks are required in the hallways, common areas, and off court but can be removed when playing. If you are feeling unwell, have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past two weeks, or have travelled outside of the country, please do not attend league until you are clear to return. We ask that any subs provide contact info for contact tracing to the league coordinator on site. If you have any further questions about this, please e-mail us at hello@sivolleyball.ca

Vaccine Status: In compliance with the PHO effective September 13, 2021, all adults (19+ years) need to be prepared to show your proof of vaccination status when attending our facilities. Please note that once the PHO Order is published, this instruction may change. Proof of vaccination must be accompanied by government-issued photo id. Failure to provide proof may result in you being unable to attend and service denied.

From September 13 to October 23, 2021 you only need to provide proof that you are partially vaccinated with one dose. Beginning Oct 24, 2021 you will need to provide proof of being fully vaccinated with two doses. At this time, we are only looking for visual verification and will not be scanning the QR code or keeping a record of your status. Note about pools:
We do our best to rank teams based on previous experience/results in our Reverse 4s league and the limited information provided to us by Saanich. If you are in a pool that is lower than your team's skill level, please have some patience and take it as an opportunity to get back into the swing of Reverse 4s. You will get to where you need to be within a couple of weeks and it's a long season!

Schedule adjustments: Due to some unforeseen school conflicts, there are some adjustments to the schedule for the season. This is the current adjustment plan which decreases the overall season from 12 weeks to 11 weeks. There is a chance we will be able to secure some gym space on October 27th and run the full 12 week season but, if not, Saanich will credit/refund for the missed week.

October 27 - No leagues at either gym
December 1st - C/D pools only at Gordon Head Middle School
December 8th - A/B pools only at Gordon Head Middle School
December 15th - Finals

League Rules

In addition to standard court volleyball rules, the following rules apply to Reverse 4s:

  1. Men must attack from behind the attack/3 meter line.
  2. Men may only block against men.
  3. No open-handed tips (roll shots, “pokeys”, etc. are allowed)
  4. No setting the ball across the net.
  5. For men, the VB must cross one line, besides the net, if one is inside the 3 meter line (no inside to inside play)
  6. Males are allowed to attack overbump passes from within the attack line area, if they occurred on the first or second contact by the opposing team.
  7. Any discrepancies, just re-serve.
  8. Call out the score prior to each serve.


    Ceiling/Roof Play Rule:
    If the ball contacts the ceiling in the playing area and within your own side of the court, it remains in play.  If the ball contacts the ceiling out of bounds or ends on the opponent’s side of play, it is considered out of bounds/loss of point.

    *This rule does not include the basketball hoops above the court of play. Contact with the basketball hoops above the court of play is a dead ball.
